A 48-Hour Golf-and-Beach Trip in Murcia

Two rounds, two beaches, one short drive. The simplest golf weekend in Spain that does not require flying anywhere extra.

Updated April 2026 · golfnear.io

Murcia is the underrated golf region of Spain. Less famous than Costa del Sol, less crowded than Mallorca, and within twenty minutes of one of the warmest beaches in the country. This itinerary fits two full rounds and two beach afternoons into a 48-hour trip, all within a triangle that requires no flight changes and one rental car. It is the simplest golf-and-beach weekend in Spain.

The setup

Fly into Alicante–Elche or Murcia–Corvera. Rent a car at the airport (€20-30/day off-peak). Stay anywhere on the Mar Menor coast or in San Pedro del Pinatar; from there every tee on this list is within thirty minutes.

Day 1

Morning: La Manga Club — North Course

The most forgiving of La Manga's three layouts. 5,800 metres from the white tees, wide enough for the average traveller, and with the Mediterranean visible from several holes. Mid-season green fee is around €95 with cart. First tee 09:00 keeps you off the course before the heat builds.

Afternoon: Playa Honda or Calblanque

If you want services, Playa Honda is a five-minute drive: long Mediterranean beach, restaurants, parasol rentals. If you want emptier and prettier, drive twenty minutes to Calblanque Natural Park — protected dunes, no concessions, and water clearer than anything Costa del Sol can offer. Lunch in San Pedro del Pinatar on the way back.

Day 2

Morning: Roda Golf, San Javier

A flatter, modern course with USGA bunkering and excellent practice facilities. Around 5,400 metres from the middle tees. Green fee mid-season €60-75. Quieter than La Manga, faster greens, more strategic shaping — a useful contrast to Day 1.

Afternoon: Mar Menor swim and tapas

The Mar Menor is the warmest body of water in continental Europe by August (often above 28 °C). Swim in calm shallow water from any of the inland-coast beaches. End with tapas in Lo Pagán, where the salt-flats sunset is one of the better golden-hour views in Spain.

Logistics and costs

Best months

March-May and September-October. Summer is too hot for comfortable golf (35 °C in July–August at noon); winter is fine for golf but the Mar Menor is a chilly 16 °C in January. The shoulder seasons give you 20-25 °C air, 22 °C water, and uncrowded courses.
