The course

El Valle is one of the Jack Nicklaus signature designs that defined the Polaris World resort-golf wave in the early 2000s — a desert-style routing through the dry-Murcia interior, with white-sand bunkering, generous landing zones off the tee, and the kind of bold greens that mark a Nicklaus design philosophy clearly. The conditioning is consistently high given the resort irrigation network, the contrast of green fairway against ochre desert verge is genuinely photogenic, and the closing stretch carries the architect's signature weight. The resort-era playbook executed competently and at scale.

When to play

The Murcia interior plays long through the calendar. October through May is comfortable; February through April peaks for European visitor demand. Summer rounds require early starts before 10:00 — the desert heat past mid-morning is the limiter. Winter is reliably dry and playable. The visual peak comes in early summer when the surrounding citrus groves fruit heavily.

Green fee & value

Mid-to-upper-tier Costa Cálida pricing — premium for the Nicklaus signature but below the genuinely championship venues elsewhere in Spain. Multi-round packages through the on-site resort accommodation are the obvious value play and meaningfully reduce the per-round cost. Twilight rates are excellent in shoulder season.

Access & etiquette

Handicap certificate requested but not aggressively enforced. Dress code is firmly resort-tier: collared shirt, tailored shorts or trousers, soft spikes mandatory. Booking essential during the European winter migration window. Buggies recommended given the routing distances.

Getting there

Forty-five minutes by car from Alicante airport (ALC) via the AP-7, thirty from Murcia-Corvera (RMU). The course is part of the broader Polaris World cluster (Mar Menor Golf, La Torre Golf), giving multi-round access within fifteen minutes. The Mar Menor lagoon coast is twenty minutes east; pair the round with <a href="https://playascerca.com/en/region/murcia/" rel="noopener">La Manga's lagoon-side beaches or the Calblanque natural park coves</a> for the regional combination day.
