About Real Golf Club de San Sebastián
Real Golf Club de San Sebastián is a golf course in País Vasco, Spain. It is a championship course. Today's comfort score peaks at 10.0/10.
Signature
Founded in 1910 on the Jaizkibel peninsula above Hondarribia, this is one of Spain's oldest clubs and unquestionably its most dramatic setting — the Bay of Biscay falls away from the eighth tee like a postcard you accidentally walked into. The links-influenced layout plays firm in summer and demands the kind of low ball flight Atlantic wind requires. Forget what works on the Costa del Sol; this is a different game.

When to play
Basque country plays by northern European rules: green and playable May through October, with summer temperatures in the comfortable mid-20s. Winters are wet — playable but soft. The combination of grass type and ocean wind makes summer mornings genuinely exceptional.
Fees & value
Strong value for a heritage course in a spectacular setting — Basque green fees run notably below the Costa del Sol equivalent for comparable design quality. Shoulder-season weekday rates are the bargain.
Facilities
Access & etiquette
Handicap certificate expected (28/36). Dress code is firm and traditional — collared shirt, tailored shorts or trousers, no logos on the clubhouse veranda. Booking advised in summer when the San Sebastián tourist season peaks.
Getting there
Fifteen minutes by car from San Sebastián airport (EAS) at Hondarribia, which is literally next door. From Bilbao (BIO) it is ninety minutes along the AP-8. Pair the round with San Sebastián's pintxos bars and La Concha beach for what is, plausibly, the best 24-hour golf-and-food combination in Spain.
